480 Rugby Fields.
Our farm is the size of 480 rugby fields......and it’s all Free Range!
Our entire farm was designed with our hens in mind. From the placement of the sheds and ranges, to the specialised features inside and out, the eg. farm was made for hens because they’re the ones laying the eggs, not us!
Layout does matter.
Our Founder Nathan came up with the layout of the farm himself. He thought, “surely there is a way to allow more space for our flocks”.
We are the only Free Range farm in New Zealand where the laying sheds and ranges are to be laid out like the shape of a sun! With the pack house in the centre, the sheds extend out from multiple sides. This allows each flock access to a bigger range for roaming compared to other Free Range farms where the sheds are laid out row by row.
A safe haven.

Climate Controlled Laying Shed!
Think backyard chicken coop, but bigger, and with a state of the art aviary system! Just like anybody, our hens deserve a house that is safe, warm and inviting. A place to sleep soundly, lay lovingly and play comfortably.
Shed Special Features!
Climate Control.
It’s hard work laying an egg a day so we keep our hens comfortable all year round with climate control and ventilation.
Nesting and Resting.
Nesting and resting areas allow our hens to feel safe and comfy while they snooze. Perches line the aviary too which our hens can safely access via the hop and turn plates.
Manure Removal.
We remove manure from the shed twice weekly. This improves the air quality and keeps the shed hygienic! The manure is then taken to a local farm to be used as fertiliser for crops!
Spacious.
We have less than 9 hens per square meter. This ensures our hens have a lot of room not just outside the shed but inside the shed too!
Hey, let’s catch up!
The second of the 6 S’s for our hens called for scratching and socialising...introducing the...
Covered Conservatory!
Sheltered from the weather, the Covered Conservatory area allows our hens to carry out their favourite hobbies! You can find them dust bathing, scratching, snoozing or gossiping with the gals!
Conservatory Special Features!
Dust Bathing.
The dry sand in our Covered Conservatory is perfect for dust bathing! Hens love to use the sand to keep their feathers clean and glossy.
Scratching.
Hens love to be excited by the things they find scratching in the dry sand and dirt, the Conservatory is the perfect place for this!
Socialising.
Hens like to huddle with their friends and catch-up about the day. If they aren’t out on the range socialising, the Conservatory is your next best guess!
Time to roam.
The last of the 6 S’s for our hens called for seeking and snacking...introducing the...
Roaming & Pasture Ranges!
Equipped with jungle gyms for playing, shrubbery for hiding, and an abundance of insects and grass for snacking, the features don’t stop there! Situated right next to a neighbouring pine forest, we can simply leave the gates open and off our hens go! They can spend time wandering under the pine cover and scratching at the tree roots, before returning home for bed. We are also planting additional tree cover throughout the roaming ranges too!
Range Special Features!
Exceeding Standards.
We have 1,000 less hens per hectare compared to the NZ Free Range industry standard. This means our hens have a lot more room to wander and explore.
Exploring.
Hens love to be excited by the things they find whilst exploring. Out on the range, they find pasture and insects to snack on contributing to their well-balanced diet (which creates our signature vibrant yolks!).
Playing.
With jungle gyms and shrubbery, our hens love playing with their friends out on the range. You’ll often find Charlie and Jakeb out playing with the hens too!
More Space.
With over 240 hectares, our sheds are laid out in a star shape to increase the size of each pasture and roaming range, providing even more space for each flock to play and explore!
